Shogun's Sidecontrol Series

Ok so here is a short video on my primary offensive game from the sidecontrol position. It is very simple, and there is not really anything revolutionizing in it. Just thought it would be good to outline it in a video and flowchart, mostly for my own sake, but if anyone out there can get anything out of it, then that would be cool too :)

Hope you enjoy it! As always, comments, ideas, questions, suggestions etc. are more than welcome :)

Nice techinque with good detail. Thanks again. Keep up good work. Could you also give us a write up on your guard game or mount game. Hopefully i can upload some techniques to you in the near future.

Very nice! I noticed in some of the example clips at the end that you used the hip ride aka twister side control in your efforts to get to the submissions. I think in a future clip you might wish to add that detail in your videos since there is a subtle but very important difference in playing a traditional vs. twister side control submission game.

the UKE in this tutorial is very alluring ...

I have no idea what the twister sidecontrol is but I'll be sure to mention it next time then ;)

Christian, its just a reverse-scarf (hips facing the legs) side control variation where your elbow is under your opponent's far armpit instead of overhooking their shoulder like you like to do.

it basically sets up the person to turn into you and for you to lock up or "lockdown" the opponent's far leg for either the twister or the "truck", which is the position where you get the banana-splits, calf-crank, the back, or yet another Twister entry.

I have the exact same game from side, but I like to add a lot the arm triangle from different positions.
BTW, you crossed the ankles at 10:44... :)

Wow that adds a lot of details into what I'm already doing, thanks.

I personally never go for the armbar from sidemount though (directly), from that same position I prefer using the giftwrap and taking the back right away or going for mount (and I armbar with that arm that's wrapped around his head)

Shogun, funny I watched this almost 1 yr ago and sort of forgot about it, but I think it planted a little seed. Then about 3 mos. ago I started watching some Rigan Machado, and saw it again. This time my body and skill level were ready to incorporate it. I've been having a lot of success with this game from the side control. Thanks for sharing Bro. -Scott

I love flowchart gameplans like this! It's great to have an ABC plan to fall back on. I'd really appreciate any more videos like this you'd like to make. Thanks so much!

Good stuff Christian. This is very similar to the game I play from here. I picked up some new details watching this for sure...
